Adolescent Anger and Angst

An unfortunate and alarming event has been occuring among our current population of adolescents:

Growing up

Unable to cope with a world where "no" is an acceptable answer to their requests or where it is them (and not the action) people don't like, today's adolescents are exhibiting strange personality disorders that, until the last decade or so, did not exist.

We asked psychiatrist Dr. Freudluver, an expert in her field, practicing psychoanalysis for sixty years, if she thought this might be a result of 'over-coddling' today's children, to which she replied: "No, of course not! On the contrary, these children were denied the stimulation and gratification they required as infants, while their parents were busy gratifying their own Ids (or, das Es)." We were prompted to question the validity of her statement after we spoke to eighteen year-old Daisy Sonshine who, after just losing her first college basketball game, broke down in tears while telling us: "Y'know, like, I was always told there were no losers - both teams win! Everything out there was so, like, y'know, barbaric and stuff! We lost by three whole points! I can't believe the other team didn't like us!"
Don't worry, Daisy... it's your playing that's lousy, not you.

Will today's children learn to "toughen up"?
...will they get eaten alive??
I guess each generation hosts its own problems.
